When it comes to creating beach textured waves, I swear by Salt Spray. Mimicking that texture you get after a dip in the ocean, it gives hair a bit of sexy grit. There are 2 brands I use for Salt Spray, Bumble and bumble and Lee Stafford. You don't need to use a lot of this product, in fact beware, over use will result in sticky hair, that is more matted than tousled. Sprits into damp hair and allow to dry naturally. If you have naturally curly or slightly wavy hair, once dry, define each curl with a medium size curling tong, I'm a big fan of Babyliss Tongs. Another option is to braid hair when wet and allow to dry over night, take out in the morning and shake out the curls. Define a few of the curls on the top section with the tong.

If you have straight hair, sprits salt spray onto damp hair, dry hair with a drier, avoiding pulling the hair straight, rather crunch into your hands to encourage movement. Tong sections in different directions to create that tousled effect. After tonging each section, finish with another light sprits of either B&B Surf Spray or Lee Stafford Sea Salt and shake out the curls.

New on my radar is Surf Foam Spray, a better option for those with super fine hair that can't handle salt spray. This part salt spray, part mousse (but lighter) product, is perfect for those wanting a beach textured style with a bit of polish.
